  1. A man named Peter Darcy, who lives in Clonmore at the present day, worked at my father's house for about thirteen years.
    He used to go home once every week, to see his father and brother, who lived in a lonely place on the Macmine road. On his way home, a black dog occasionally jumped over a ditch on to the road, at the same spot each time.
    He used to follow Darcy as far as a lane which led down to an out farm belonging to a protestant neighbor named Robinson.
    The dog used always go down this lane.
    This annoyed Darcy so much that
