    There was an' ould man an he was supposed to be a brother of this other Quirke fella I have mentioned in the other story.

    This man was said to be a fairy man also. He was able to calm the wind.
    There was a farmer threshing one day down in Maemine an' it was a terrible windy day.
    One of the fellas said to send for Quike to calm the wind, because it was blown' the straw everywhere. They sent for him anyhow, an' he came an' got up on a rick of straw, an' made signs with his hands, an the wind ceased.
