  1. There was an ould man be the name of Andy Hughes.
    The ould people used to call him Andy the broom, because he used to go around making an selling brooms.
    Himself an his wife w ent from house to house in an ass' car.
    One time the lodged in out house an used to go up on the hill to gather heath to make the brooms.
    He would cut a green brier from a gripe an cut the pep out of it.
    He would let it wither for a few days, an then he would tie the withered skin neatly around a bunch of heath.
    When he has an ass load of brooms, he would sell them in the neighbourhood for a penny or twopence
