Long ago an old tinker by the name of Tom Swaine used to go around Adamstown mending things at houses.

He used to be very often around Adamstown.
An old school mistress named Miss Meyler got him to mend the lid of a pewter jug, and while he was at work she was looking at him.
She asked him several time, "How much will it be Tom," 'O' not much ma'am keep your mind to yourself.
Then the job was done it was four pence, and she gave him three-pence halfpenny.
When he counted it he said he was short. "oh not much Tom keep your mind to yourself" says she.
