    in to the house and is put over the door. Everybody walks in under it. This is said to bring luck for the year.
    On May day we are supposed to get up at six o'clock before sunrise, and go out and skim the wells and say "I will have my milk and butter.
    If you change from one house to another on Saturday you will have bad luck.
    If you whitewash in May you sweep the luck away. May day the dirt swept from the floor should not be swept out the door but should be swept into the fire.
