  1. There is a gate down near Fethard, and it can never be shut.
    One time not so long ago, a man went to shut it, and plenty of men told him not to go near it because it was very dangerous, as those who would come to an awful end. The man said "that does'nt matter" and he tried to shut it. He shut it and put a lock and chains on it and said the devil wouldnt open it.
    But the gate was opened that night in spite of his teeth. That same night this boy was going home on his bicycle, and where he was coming near a cross road, a lorry ran into him, and he died immediately. That is what he got for going near it
