    The fairs of New Ross are held in the Irish Town. The principal fairs are in May and October. There are two fairs in each of these months. Long ago people used to pay toll going to the fair. Men were stationed at the crossroad leading to New Ross, and they compelled the farmers to pay a penny a head on every beast they were bringing to the fair whether they sold them or
