  1. Late one night a farm-labourer was returning home from a friend's house where he had been playing cards, when suddenly he heard the trot of horses. Thinking he might get a drive he stopped and waited.
    Suddenly the sounds came nearer and he was much surprised to see an old fashioned stage-coach coming towards him. Then as it passed an extraordinary feeling passed over him and when he opened his mouth to speak not a word could he utter.
