  1. The following prayers are said when going to bed.
Here I lie down on my bed to sleep,
That God may take my soul to keep,
If any evil come to harm me,
Blessed Lady, Queen of Heaven, awaken me.
    Christ's Cross upon my breast
I turn myself to Jesus Christ,
Jesus Christ and His Holy name,
May keep me out of sin and shame.

As I lay my head on this bed to sleep,
I give my soul to God to keep,
When I rise, now or never,
I give my soul to God forever.
There are four corners of this bed.
    Four bright angels over-spread.
Mark and Matt, Luke and John,
God bless the bed that I lie on,
If any evil comes to me,
    O, Blessed Virgin, awaken me.
God almighty and the Blessed Virgin Mary,
    And Her only Son Jesus,
Guard me and bring me safe over the night.
