  1. Some children especially boys go barefoot during the Summer months nowadays.
    Some people sprinkle the water used for washing feet outside the door. In the village which about three miles away from this locality boots are repaired. Three shoe-makers live in the village. It is said that shoemakers of formers times made better boots and shoes than those of the present day.
    Clogs are still worn by some people in this locality. Clogs were never made in this district but they are repaired here. Foot-covering were worn by old men in this locality over a hundred years ago.
    We had a tannery at Gorey about twenty years ago, and it was closed, and it was reopened about a year ago.
    Most boots and shoes are made by machinery, and on that account the shoemakers make scarcely any boots. Some of them make boots for children and old men still.
