    Home Made Toys.
    A Snare.
A snare is made with snare-wire. There is a loop on the end of the wire. Snares are used for catching rabbits. They are set on the rabbit's path. A stick is stuck in the ground to hold the rabbit.
When the rabbit is running along the path he runs his head into the snare, and is choked.
    Trap for birds.
Dig a hole in snow and put a pot-lid over the whole, but prop the lid up with a stick thus :-
    [diagram of trap]
Tie a long cord to the stick. Put bread in the hole. When the bird goes in for the bread I pull the cord, the lid falls down, and the bird is caught.
    Rattles
My father often made rattles out of rushes. He got some rushes and tied the bottom of the rushes. Then he plaited the rushes up to the top, and he put a stone in it. When this was shaken it would rattle.
