Saint Cormac is the local saint. About two miles from Boolavogue Church is Saint Cormac's church (ruins scarcely to be traced), and Kilcormac graveyard (now closed) and in the bog below the graveyard is Saint Cormac's Well.
The ruins of the church are in the graveyard.
The "pattern" used to be held around the ruins of Saint Cormac's church many years ago on the Sunday nearest to the 21st June. This "pattern" is now held around Boolavogue Church.
The present Chapel in Boolavogue which was finished in 1848 is dedicated to Our Lady and Saint Cormac.
