    The following are holy prayers taught to James Carroll 6th Standard.
    He lives in

    Co. Wexford
    James Carroll told them to the 6th Standard and they were taught to him by his mother. She learned the prayers from her grandmother.
    Here I lay myself down to sleep
    To God I give my soul to keep
    But if I die before I wake
    To God I pray my soul to take
    This I ask for Jesus' sake
    "Think of death"
    I shall die, I know not when, where, or how,
    But if I die in mortal sin I am lost for ever.
    O Jesus ! Have mercy on me.
    O, Jesus who for love of me,
    Didst bear Thy Cross to Calvary
    In thy sweet mercy grant to me
    To suffer and die with thee
