    but there was also some coal.
    The master's name was 'Alec Stuart' and I myself knew his daughter as an old woman. When I inquired if her were Scotch Mr. Belvin said he didn't know.
    The exact site of this school is well known.
    There were other Hedge Schools also within this parish (Blackwater) at Crosshue, Crois Da Ruadh, and Ballyvaloo. The latter two were conducted by Kirwan and Wm. O Neill respectively.
    James Howlin of Blackwater, age 70, tells me Geometry and Ing. were taught along with the three R's in these schools.
    There is no mention of the Classics being taught in any of the above mentioned schools.
