“About 140 years ago there lived two men in the parish of Taghmon and they were rebels.”
(continued from previous page)they were about to attack the soldiers fled to New Ross. The rebels followed and over took them 3 miles outside the town.
Some of the soldiers were killed and more were taken prisoners. The two men who led the rebel army were taken prisoners and the pitch cap was put on them and they killed themselves soon afterwards.- Collector
