    ditches and houses until he had a farm of 2,000 acres.
    The people who were evicted went to other countries. Very few planters settled around here.
    Mr. Leigh was a bad Landlord and was known as "Leveller Leigh".
    It is not the custom to divide farms amongst families in the County Wexford. The landlord used to make his tenants vote for who ever he wished under treat of eviction. If they refused, he sent his man and sowed grass seed in their land and then evicted them.
    Some people payed tithes, tenants near Protestants Churches had to pay some money for the upkeep of the Clergy. There was no battles fought around here, but people resented paying tithes and only paid under Compulsion.

    The landlord of this district was Mr Leigh of Rosegarland. The family
