- People from my locality, Coolcliffe say that a man named Joseph Quigley of Bannow was killed near my house - Barrons, Coolcliffe - when running from the battle of Ross.
When he was coming through Goff's Bridge he got tired and sat down. A woman living nearby, knowing he was a coward ran out with a pike and killed him.At the time of the battle in Horetown the soldiers camped in the grove in Coolcliffe.
