  1. John Mangan is known as the world's greatest weight-thrower. His height was six feet five inches. His weight was twenty stone. John was very popular throughout the world.
    Some of his successes:-
    (1) He threw an eight stone weight twenty three feet.
    (2) He beat Billy Murphy of Kildare.
    (3) A few years before his death the English champion is said to have come to break John's records. When he came to John's house he was not there so his sister beat the English man. John would lift two sixteen stone bags of fosset under
