  1. When the battle of Ross was being fought, it is said that some of the Irish got a herd of cattle + ran them wild down the streets and through the English ranks. The Irish then came rushing after the cattle and won the battle.

    When the rebellion was over, all the arms were called in and the people brought up pikes, scythes and old rifles into the Customs-House in Anne Street.
    An officer with a sword, was on guard.
