- 1. Lord Waterford came on a shooting expedition to JOhnstwon Castle, as a guest of Morgan Grogan, Jude was sent with them as a "beater" and to carry Lord Waterford's lunch bag. After a while Jude got tired of carrying the bag and he threw it on the ground, and told him to carry it himself as it was too heavy. Lord Waterford asked Jude did he know whom he was talking to. Jude said, "I'm a lord too". "What Lord are you", said Lord Waterford. Jude said "I'm like yourself, the lord knows who". When they got home that night after the days shooting the butler asked Jude how many game-birds did they shoot "Nine hundred and ninety nine" said Jude. "Why didn't you make it the thousand" said the butler, "Do you think I'm going to tell a lie for one bird", said Jude. The butler ordered Jude into his tea. Jude went in and sat down at the table. He got everything to eat but there was no meat. Jude asked the butler where was the meat. The butler told him that there was no meat for him. Jude told him to get him meat. "Mind what you are talking about" said the butler. "who are you" said Jude, "I'm Mr Kidd,(continues on next page)
