  1. There is a field in Rathjarney farm known as the Cock-field because in the olden days people from all parts of the Parish, and outside the parish too, used to bring their cocks there to fight and from that to the present day it goes by the Cock field.
    In this pastime of Cock-fighting- which was indulged in profusely - many fortunes were lost and won and many an argument and quarrel took place after "The Battle "of Cocks"
