On this page

  1. A big furze bush all yellow blossoms was got on May Eve and placed on Cross Road. It was decorated with primroses, wallflowers, and candles ( about twenty three doz candles being used. Boys and girls of parish danced and sang all night around May Bush.
    Local musician supplied music, and all enjoyed themselves and made merry till four o'clock in morning.

    On Peter and Paul 29th June...

    On Peter and Paul Day 29th June a bonfire was lit. A barrel or two of coal and a half a cask tar would be burned all night. Boys and girls danced all night on this occasion also and best step dancer got porter or 2 or 3 ozs of tobacco.
