  1. Years ago, inhabitants of Carne played games and tricks at wakes.
One of the games was "Harry the Brogue".
This was played at almost all wakes.
The men got around in a circle and turned up their trousers to shins. One man got in the centre of the ring, and a thimble was given to him. It was handed around the circle.
The man in the centre asked "who had the ring". If the person he asked did not tell him the right one, he would be beaten on shins with an old brogue.
Another old wake game was called "Pig in the Sty".
This game was played in a somewhat similar manner to previous one "Harry the Brogue".
"Hide the Slipper" was played also.
Players sit down on floor in a ring. One man stands in middle of ring, shouts "You have slipper". Person who has, tries to hide it and pass it along. If man standing gets it he sits down, and person whom he got slipper from, stands and so on.
