A man living in Moortown always worked his men very hard, in fact thought they'd never do enough.

A man living in Moortown always worked his men very hard, in fact thought they'd never do enough. Men never stayed with him. And one time during the potato picking he was stranded and a tramp came along and agreed to help him to get in the potatoes. So after breakfast they proceeded to the field and the boss ploughed out three drills of potatoes and looking up at the sky he said "I think it will soon rain, and I'll plough out three or four more. We won't be long picking them up".
And when he ploughed them out he decided to plough five or six more before the rain, and when he had at least two good days picking ploughed out, he unyoked his horses and said to the tramp, "Now we'll hurry and pick those up, it looks very much for rain". But instead, the tramp took up his coat saying, " I better hit the road before it rains".
