  1. Long ago the country was full of travelling folk.
    Mick Byrne was a traveller who used to go from place to place playing a fiddle. He was blind and had a black dog to lead him around. There was a rope attached to the dog's neck which he held in his hand.
    Some of the farmers gave him shelter at night and a crowd would gather in to hear the music and have a dance.
