  1. Long ago the people had curious ways of curing diseases.
    1. They used to kill a hedgehog and stew it and give the flesh to children to cure the whooping cough.
    2. To cure the tooth-ache a frog was put in their mouth or a knitting needle was reddened and stuck in the decayed tooth.
    3. To cure warts the milky juice from the thistle stem was applied to them.
    4. To cure wounds or cuts an herb called the "Planting Leaf" was chewed and put on a cloth and the wound was bandaged up with this.
