  1. Potatoes are sown on my father's farm. About two acres were grown this year and the amount seldom varies. My father or some of the workmen prepares the ground for the crop. In some cases the farmyard manure is shaken on the field and ploughed into the soil and sometimes it is shaken into the furrows.
    Arificial manure is shaken in the drills. Early potatoes are generally sown in ridges but the general crop is sown in drills. The drills are made with a double-plough usually, but
