    Pope Urban VIII. He preached in Waterford in 1665.
    In 1539 the Abbey was granted to Robert Dacott and the Earl of Shrewesbury. It was subsequently granted to Sir Osborne Itchingham. Sir Arthur Chicester married Jane, daughter and heiress of John Itchingham March 9th 1660, by whom he acquired possession of the Abbey. It is still in the possession of the Chichester family, whose representative is the present Lord Templemore.
    As slowly up the aisle afar,
    With sable cowland scapular,
    And snow-white stoles in order due,
    Come holy fathers two by two;
    Above the prostate pilgrim band,
    The mitred Abbot stretched his hand,
    And blessed them as they kneeled.
