There was a poor man named Foran lived in Saltmills and he was very fond of tobacco. One day he had no tobacco and he saw a ship waiting at the Barrow-Bridge for a pilot to bring her to New Ross. He took off his clothes and tied them in a bundle on his head and swam to the ship for tobacco and back again. The distance from Saltmills to the Barrow-Bridge is three miles.
