  1. There were a brother and sister living in Kilbrick near Duncannon. A soldier happened on the boy one day and he had him up against the ditch to kill him. Fortunately his sister came up behind the soldier and stuck a pike in his back just as he was in the act of driving his spear into the boy. At that moment the boy shouted to his sister to draw the pike from the soldier's back. She did so and the soldier dropped dead out of his saddle. Only for the boy's presence of mind the soldier would have had time to kill him as he would live with the pike stuck in his back, but when it was withdrawn he dropped dead.
