    T'was to Duncannon they brought me then,
    Lord Cornwall and his mounted men.
    In my prison cell by the sobbing sea
    Did I think of death on the gallow's tree

    Lord Cornwall whispered low to me.
    "If you tell the names of your company"
    "If you'll tell the names of but two or three"
    I will save your life and set you free".
    III
    Then who could blame me to weep my fill
    For in my bosom my heart grew still.
    "Would I tell the names of the lads I knew
    Would I turn informer to the fearless few.
    IV
    Then to lordship I calmly told.
    "I'll keep my secret you keep your gold.
    I would rather die on the gallow's tree,
    There is no informer in my company".
