  1. 1. If a gooseberry thorn is passed through a gold ring and pointed at a stye it cures it.
    2. A way to cure warts is, put as many stones in a bag as you have warts, tie the bag and throw it on the road. Whoever finds the bag gets the warts and rids the other person of them.
    3. Another way to cure warts is, wind a horse-hair round the warts.
    4. If a girl marries a man with the same name as herself the bread she bakes cures the whooping cough.
    5. If you put fresh butter a cabbage leaf and put it on a boil it will cure it.
    6. To cure a stye dip a wedding ring in holy water and make the sign of the Cross three times on the stye.
    7. An oaten straw rubbed on warts will cure them.
    8. If you happened on a snail accidentally rub it on a wart and put the snail in a skough and the warts will
