    erry = eirghe rise of ground (Joyce)
    Prob. Eirghe-leachac - flaggy
    Millstones used be obtained there (page 99) - also querns. People used come "from all parts" to get the particular glassy sort of sand to be had there.
    It was used for making sycthe-stones.
    There is a tradition that St. Aidan once came here, intending to cross to Co. Waterford (3 mls. harbour) He is said to have crossed by walking on the water, or via a mystic bridge.

    2) LOONASCOOTH
    Bay near Templetown (Scumhal shelter ?)

    3) GALLINATRAW
    sheltered inlet under Fethard where the boats are drawn up for Winter. (Joyce goilin - inlet)

    4) SCURTNAGULLUP
    at same place - Scairt

    5) INNYARD
    Ionga árd frowning cliff - Joyce

    6) SMUGGLER'S CAVE
    near hole of Innyard - well concealed. Also used by men "on the run"

    7) BETTY HOLE
    Northern point of Baginbun Bay. Some say it was called after a ship "The Lady Betty", wrecked there, not long beyond living memory.
