  1. These are the games we play at school. High gates, ghost in the well "tig", colours, Lord Luke Lord john.
    This is how high-gates are played. All the children stand in a big ring holding each others hands. One of the children goes outside the ring and says.
    A bit of fat a bit of lean,
    A bit of old cows tail.
    I sent a letter to my mother and someone picked it up.
    Then she will pick out some other child out of the ring. They will run in an out through the ring until the first girl is caught.
