  1. There are many signs of bad weather and good weather. When there is a blue blaze in the fire it is a sign of a storm. The ass shows signs of the weather. When he lies with his back to a ditch or when he stands with his back to the wind it is a sign of a storm. People with corns find them beginning to ache when rain is coming. When people have rheumatism the pains get very bad when rain is coming. When a dog eats grass it is a sign of rain also. When the midges bite it is another sign of rain. When the peacock cries it is a sign that rain is coming. When the cat lies with her back to the fire it is a sign of a storm. When the hills look near it is a sign that rain is coming. The soot falls before rain and the ducks quack. The wind shows signs also. If the wind is coming from the east it is a sign of good weather and if it comes from the north or south it is a sign of bad weather. The swallows fly low when it is going to rain. The spiders come out of their webs and creep on the walls when rain is coming. When it is going to rain the clouds are very low and black. When the Willie-Wag-Tail comes to the door it is a sign of a storm. If you go out on a bright sunny day and if you see, "Goats" whiskers in the sky it is a sign of rain. If the sky is red over Ardagh in the morning it is a sign of rain. When there are "Larry Corry Arisses" in the sky it is a sign of snow. A rainbow in the morning is a shepherd's warning and a rainbow at night is a shepherd's
