  1. Fairies in olden times were supposed to be enchanted. It was supposed they lived in forts. There was once upon a time a poor woman and her son Seámus lived in a cottage along the mountain side. All they had to support them was a cow which kept them in milk. This cow was fed on the mountain side. One day as her son Seámus went for the cow to his amazement found his cow dead in a hole. Seámus being moved to grief ran home and told his mother and they raised three great cries of lamentation and all the neighbours with them. So they agreed they would bring home the cow and clean her and use her. While they were using the cow it was so tough that they
