  1. I often heard my Grandmother say that a man named Master Green taught in a school a short distance from Moyne Chapel. He lived in a house attached to the school and which is now occupied by Pat Maguire, Moyne. He taught them English, The scholars used slate pencils and slates. They used quills and nibs when they were writing with ink.
About 40 years ago there was a Latin School in Michael Masterson's barn Firmalaugh. It was taught by Larry Duffy who lived in Bally Duffy Co Longford. The boys were taught Latin and English.
