  1. About 17 years ago there died a man in Smare whose name was Pat Kiernan. He worked in Scotland. He delivered coal in a wagon that a horse should draw. He was able to carry a two cwt bag of meal from Arva to his home which was about four miles distant.
    About 90 years ago there lived a man named Pat Brady of Legga Co. Longford. He made a pair of wings for himself and he got up on top of the house to fly. His wife told him not to fly towards the lough. He started to fly but he was only able to fly a few yards when he fell in the sink.
