  1. Bernard Martin, Aughamore, Co. Longford, was a famous mower. He died about 10 years ago. He used to mow an acre and a half every day. He used to mow a lot of hay for his neighbours "by task". He used to also travel long journeys to mow. Some years he used to walk up to County Dublin for the harvesting and mow all day after arriving early in the morning.
    Michael Flaherty, Leggah, was a great mower. He used to mow over an acre per day.
    Patrick Mulligan, Smear, was another famous mower. He used to mow an acre every day, after long walk to his work.
