  1. If there is a circle round the moon it is a sign of rain, and the further away the circle is from the moon the nearer it is to rain.
    Seagulls flying low, or curlews crying loud are signs of rain
    If the cat sits with her back to the fire it is a sign of storm or if she washes over her ears nine times it is a sign of rain.
    If the dog has his tail between his legs rain is near
    If the fog comes down it is a sign of good weather, if it goes up it will come back as rain.
    "When Corn Hill puts on its cap
    Let Ballinalee beware of that"
    When crows are clod pegging i.e. rising and falling it is a sign that the weather will improve
    If the moon is on its back, or if there are streamers from the sun, bad weather is coming.
    Swallows flying high mean good weather, if they fly low it is a sign of bad weather.
    If Friday is wet Sunday will also be wet, and you can't trust Saturday.
    If the crows build their nests high up in the trees it is a sign of a good summer.
    If the sun shines very brightly after frost it is a sign of rain.
    If there are blue flames in the fire it is a sign of frost and if soot falls down the chimney rain is coming.
    Dust flying on the roads is a sign of coming storm
