  1. Long ago a man named Bob Heaney lived in Cartonfree. He used to play a flute. One night his wife and family were in bed and he was preparing to go himself when the house filled with people. They seized him and tried to bring him away. He happened to stumble across the beeson and took it up. By this time he was at the door. He caught the jamb with one hand & beat them away with the beeson. As he stood at the door he thought he saw a straight road leading to the fort that was near his house. His wife and family never heard the struggle till he told them next morning. At night-fall next evening a strange woman came in and said to his wife - "your husband got a lot of bother last night." Only he got the beeson he was brought away to the fort. They want a man who can play music. Tell him not to play the flute any more.
