In the townland of Derrycassan there was once a girl named Judy Reilly. a man named Lesson who lived in the "Lodge" in Larkfield was courting her, as was a man named Gilmore, who lived in Larkfield too. Gilmore became jealous of Lesson and one night taking out his gun decided to shoot Lesson. He went to the lodge and found Lesson seated at the fire. He took aim through the window but a geranium flower stood in the way. So fortunately he only wounded Lesson. next day police were on the scene. In a cow's manure was found a footprint. one police man was left to guard the footprint, while the others went to question Gilmore who had been suspected. Sam
