  1. Alone upon a foreign strand
    Beyond the ocean's foam
An Exile stands with tearful eyes
As his thoughts fly back to home
The lark's bright notes so sweetly
    Upon his sad ears rung
And visions rose before his eyes
    Of Sylvan Cornadrung
    II
A! me he said, how sad my fate
To be compelled to fly from your lovely woods and meadows green
Among which I hoped to die
A seek a home beyond the foam
    Where surging billows rise
    Far from the verdant woods
    Down by Lough Gowna's side.
    III
Me thinks I see those visions grand
    Rise up before me now
The Cottage too, that lovely seat
    With ivy round it's brow
    It's lovely hills
Its meadows green with towering trees oer hung
And in my wistful dreams Ive seen
    Sweet Sylvan Cornadrung
