  1. There are a lot of fairy forts in this district. There are two forts in the townland of Rathmore.
    Music is often heard from these forts. It is believed that the fairies had their homes in these forts long years ago and it would not be right to go near them or cut down bushes from beside the fort. There is another fort in the townland of Aughnacliffe in Bernard Mulligans field. May people heard the sound of churning when passing by these forts. There are always a few open-ways going in to the fort.
