  1. Holy Wells were used in olden times for cures of certain ailments.
    Other cures were used in them times and some of them were got by crawling through an opening or through a window, or under a briar, or a cleft of a tree, or out under a horse legs.
    Holy wells were also found and here are the names of some of them. In James Mc Nerney field in Cartern there is a Holy Well and it is visited every yr. on the fifteenth of August by hundreds to get cured of any disease.
