  1. In the years nineteen seventeen and eighteen there were people in this country who were titled the Black and Tans who were the cause of a lot of burnings and want on destruction in this country. Mr Joseph Smith's of Aughnacliffe and the Barracks of Ballinamuck, Co. Longford were then burned to ruin. In the year 1924 Edenmore N.S> was accidently burned and also a hall at Aughnacliffe was accidentally burned as well in the year 1932.
