  1. Long ago the people had home cures for almost any ailment.
    One cure that I saw tried with success was for whooping cough.
    When whooping cough visited a District no child escaped.
    My brothers and sisters and myself were all bad at the same time and nothing seemed to give us any relief, although my Mother tried several remedies.
    One day when we had been coughing worse than usual a neighbour woman came in & when she saw that we were so bad, she said that it was time to get the cure made. As my Mother had never heard of the cure she made full inquiries and found out that she would have to send a bottle of milk to some person who had a a ferret.
