About three years ago there lived a very pious man whose name was Patrick Brady. He lived in the parish of Drumlish, County Longford. Every Sunday when he was going to Mass he used to bring with him a round stone and throw it into a little box. The Sunday he would not hear Mass well the stone would break into pits in the box.
The Sunday he would hear Mass well the stone would be twice as big. The Sunday he would not hear Mass well he would go to a field and tie himself to a tree. Then he would strip himself and two men would beat him with sticks, and he used to do that for
