    There is a "croppies" grave in Ballinamuck and a tomb stone of Cornwallis erected over it. There were two fellows hanged by Hempenstall in Cavan, Ballinalee, Co. Longford and then they were carried down to Ballinalee and buried in "Bully's acre" west of the village. There are two ash trees growing over their graves and they are to be seen to this day.
    The night the French landed they stole the chains of the Irish cannons. The women made hay ropes, but they were of no use. The Irish had to fight
