  1. Fairs are very common nowadays. Long ago there was only a fair once a month. There is no week, but there is a fair in Longford and Granard. All the farmers in this district go to them.
    Many years ago, all the old people around here used to gather together in some field and hold their fairs, as there were no fairs in towns, in those days.
    The held their fairs in Thomas Maguire's field, Doorock Drumlish, Longford. The farmers would bring their calves and heifers to this field on an appointed day.
